Perma-Tune -Maker of Precision Ignition Systems for Vintage Vehicles

Perma-Tune specializes in designing and manufacturing high-energy electronic ignition systems, primarily for vintage vehicles. The company has earned a reputation for producing ignition systems for iconic European cars, including Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. Today, Perma-Tune creates ignition systems compatible with virtually any distributor-type engine, combining advanced technology with an authentic appearance for classic cars.

Founded in 1969 by Dr. Theodore Sturm, Perma-Tune originated as a producer of high-performance ignition solutions for car racing and permanent street car tune-ups. The company’s early success included the development of the Perma-Tune ignition module, known as the "Blue Box," for the Porsche 911. From 1974 to 1977, the module was exported to Germany and installed into the vehicle’s production line. Dr. Sturm worked closely with his college classmate, Ferdinand Porsche, to create the ignition system, which remained in production as a spare part post-1977 to help Porsche 911s and domestic vehicles meet California’s strict emissions standards.

In 1989, Lonnie Lenarduzzi, a former US Department of Energy engineer, acquired Perma-Tune and expanded its product lines. Under his leadership, Perma-Tune has continued to develop new generations of ignition systems and focus on incorporating the latest electronic innovations.
